President Maia Sandu paid a working visit to a number of localities in Edineț district. The head of state discussed local development issues with mayors from the region, IPN reports. “Our plan for Moldova means developed localities, a developed Edineț. In the last two years, through the European Village program, 52 million lei was allocated for 32 projects in 20 localities in the district,” stated President Sandu.

Two other projects are financed from the Regional Development Fund - a project to improve access to water in Edineț and Cupcini towns to the value of 67 million lei, and a project to build a multifunctional sports hall in the district center to the value of 33 million lei. “These are some of the concrete things that we are doing in Edineț district and that we have discussed with the mayors and local authorities in the region. I also spoke with local elected officials about the importance of the afforestation program. In Edineț district, in the last two years, 94 hectares of land belonging to mayor’s offices were planted with trees,” said the head of state.

The official also met with residents of Gordineştii Noi, inside the multifunctional center renovated through the European Village program. “With investments of 4 million lei, today the center houses the Home of Culture, the post office and a craft workshop. The locals, through a survey, decided to ask for financing namely for this project, showing that even a locality with 300 people can obtain funds and benefit from quality public services,” stressed the head of state.

Maia Sandu also discussed with inhabitants of Hincăuți commune, in which, in the last two years, the Government invested 10 million lei through the European Village program. “With this money, a sports field was built and the water supply system was extended in the localities of Hincăuți and Clișcăuți. Through joint efforts, involvement at community level, we contribute to improving the living conditions for the people in every locality in the country,” noted the official.
