The Chinese city of Tianjin intends to sign an economic cooperation agreement with the Government of Moldova. The city, which has a population of 13 million, managed to transform the economic crisis into an opportunity, stated Gaoli Zhang, the head of the Tianjin delegation, at a meeting with Prime-minister Vlad Filat in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports .
In a Government communiqué it was said that during the meeting with Gaoli Zhang, who is also a top Chinese Communist Party member, the Moldo-Chinese relationship was also discussed along with several common on-going projects.
Gaoli Zhang said that during the 20 years of friendship between the two states several delegations have made mutual visits, thus facilitating the strengthening of a collaborative relationship. The official noted that the amount of economic exchanges has risen greatly in the last few years. He has also mentioned that there is great potential in the promotion of our national culture and tourism. “Moldova is a beautiful country with rustic scenery that Chinese tourists might want to visit. We were impressed by the wine cellars at Cricova, and by the parks we managed to visit”, said Gaoli Zhang.
The Prime-minister, Vlad Filat, mentioned that Moldova should learn from the experience of other states which have successfully implemented projects, especially in the economic sector, in order to intensify our economic growth, and to offer Moldovan citizens jobs and a better life. Vlad Filat expressed his gratitude for the aid offered to Moldova over the years, mentioning that from 2001 to 2011 China has given Moldova around $15.8 million in non-reimbursable assistance.
