Man and woman killed in fires

Two persons died in fires, while another one was rushed to the hospital with burns suffered in a gas explosion. The tragedies happened on Saturday and Sunday. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that a leaking gas cylinder caused an explosion in a house in Leova town on March 13. The owner of the house, a woman aged 78, received burns of the first and second degree on the face and hands. The same day, an unidentified person set a house in Lapusna village of Hancesti district on fire. A 51-year-old man was discovered dead in his house in Ivanovca village of Cimislia district. He died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a fire. Neighbors say he drank alcohol all day long and then set a pile of clothes he put in the middle of the room on fire. He was alone at home. A fire in Scaeni village of Donduseni district destroyed a house and an annex. The body of a woman aged 82 was found inside the house. The cause of death is to be established. The 403 fires that happened in Moldova this year resulted in 64 deaths.
