Man arrested for card skimming

A 42-year-old man was arrested on charges of credit card fraud. Earlier the man was convicted for similar offenses in a EU country, the General Police Inspectorate said.

The police said the suspect used state-of-the-art equipment to clone credit and debit cards, a fraudulent activity also known as skimming. He targeted mainly EU card users to embezzle their money and did so with the help of other people.

The police raided the suspect’s addresses to find over 11,000 euros cash, in addition to the skimming equipment.

The man now faces from 4 to 8 years in prison. Investigation is under way to identify all the people involved in the scheme.
