Man caught smuggling contraband worth over 100,000 lei
A man from Chisinau was detained at the Criuleni customs post for attempting to smuggle undeclared goods to the value of 110,000 lei into Moldova. The merchandise was purchased at the Ukrainian market known as “the seventh kilometer”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the man was transporting the goods by a Ford car. He could not show documents of origin for the consumer goods that were to be sold on the domestic market.
The merchandise was confiscated. The man faces a fine of up to 6,000 lei or up to two years’ imprisonment for smuggling.
