A 28-year-old man from northern Moldova was sentenced to eight years in jail for raping two teenage girls four years ago. He has been absconding and was put on the wanted list. The sentence will start to be served when the man is arrested, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said both of the rapes were committed in January 2019. In the first case, the man was in his house together with the minor victim. He profited from the girl’s inability to defend herself and, being under the influence of alcohol, sexually abused her. The second case happened shortly afterward in similar circumstances.

The sentence is not final and can be challenged in the Balti Appeals Court.
