A man from Nisporeni was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment for attacking a police officer with an ax. The policeman came to take him to the prosecutor’s office by force, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In November 2012, two police officers went to the offender’s home to take him to the Prosecutor’s Office as he refused to implement a court decision. The culprit didn’t comply with their orders and insulted them. He then attempted to hit one of the policemen with an ax in the head, but the latter managed to step aside. However, his arm was wounded and he needed surgery.

The offender, 72, has a criminal record. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
