A 52-year-old man from Comrat died from flu complications last week. According to the health authorities, the man hadn’t been vaccinated against flu. The number of deaths associated with flu rose to 31 so far this season.
Press officer of the National Public Health Agency Olesea Croitor has told IPN that the man received antiviral treatment at the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga”. He died on March 22, being diagnosed with destructive bilateral pneumonia.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the flu epidemiological situation in the country is of low intensity. During March 18-24, there were recorded 44 cases of seasonal flu.
The population is encouraged to respect all the prophylaxis and hygiene rules and to immediately see a doctor on the first symptoms, without resorting to self-medication. The flu starts suddenly with fever, headaches, cough, pain in the neck and rhinitis. Among children, flu is associated with otitis and vomiting. It is recommended washing the hands with water and soap as often as possible, eating correctly and drinking more liquids.
In the period between October 1, 2018 and March 24, 2019, there were recorded 2,115 cases of flu.
