A 43-year-old man from Ialoveni was arrested after a female citizen of Germany aged 38 at the start of March filed a complaint to the police, saying the man with whom she got acquainted through social networking site was blackmailing her, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the woman established a virtual contact with the man. After exchanging messages, the man managed to persuade the woman to send him intimate pictures and then started to blackmail her, threatening her he will post the photos on social networking sites. He asked €600 from her for not doing so.

When the man was arrested, the police found on him the mobile phone from which he managed his virtual profile and also the money obtained by blackmail. He was arrested for 72 hours. When being questioned, he admitted his guilt.

The man faces up to seven years in jail. He was earlier convicted of robberies and thefts, being released from prison in 2017.
