A man aged 27 from Chisinau was sentenced to 22 years in jail for cruelly murdering a drinking companion. The crime was committed last July after the men abused alcohol, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the man stabbed his drinking companion with a kitchen knife for several times. In order to be sure that the victim died, he hit him with an iron and then strangled him with a cable.

Afterward, the culprit stole objects to the value of about 4,000 lei from the victim’s house and went away. The court gave him 22 years for very cruel murder and theft.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
