A 21-year-old man from Glodeni was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail for stealing money and attempting to steal things from two churches from the district, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Last December, the young man, being under the influence of alcohol, entered the church in Petrunea village and stole 3,600 lei donated by the faithful. One day later, the he broke into the church in Limbenii Noi village, damaging three windows and the entrance door. He also tried to open the safe from the altar, but was unable to.
The man has a criminal record. He admitted his guilt. Besides jailing them, the court ordered that the culprit pay 8,600 lei damages to the injured party. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
