Man hidden inside car with Moldovan license numbers blows himself up

An unidentified man hidden inside a vehicle with Moldovan license numbers blew himself up at the Russian-Ukrainian border when he was found by Ukrainian border guards. The incident happened on the night of October 4. Two Ukrainian border police officers were seriously injured, IPN reports.

According to “Ria Novosti” Agency, the car with four Moldovan occupants was coming from Russia. During a check, the Ukrainian border guards discovered one more passenger who presented a Russian passport. It later turned out that the passport didn’t belong to him. The man exploded himself with an unidentified device when he was being questioned. He died, while the injured police officers were hospitalized.

The incident happened at about 01.00, at the Bacevsk border crossing point in Sumi region, in northeastern Ukraine. The police, the special services and the border police are investigating the case. The border crossing point was closed.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ana Taban said she does not possess information about this case.
