Two men from Chisinau suffered injuries when a balcony from the sixth floor on which they stood caved in. One of them got stuck between two concrete slabs, while the other one fell down and was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition, IPN reports.
Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Service Diana Turcan has told IPN that the accident happened on Coca Street in Buiucani district in the evening of February 19. The man who got stuck between the slabs of the balconies from the fifth and sixth floors was saved by rescuers. He suffered only a scare.
The operation to dismantle the slabs lasted up to 2am, on February 20. According to the intervention team, there is no danger of the building to collapse.
Contacted by IPN, Chisinau Emergency Hospital spokesman Petru Cravet said the man who fell down is 30 years old. He suffered severe polytraumas, serious brain injury, contusion of the thorax and internal organs and a forearm fracture. He is now in the reanimatology section in a critical condition.
