Man injured in gas cylinder explosion in Leova
A man was rushed to the hospital with severe burns that he received in a gas cylinder blast. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, told Info-Prim Neo that the explosion happened in a summer kitchen in Leova town.
The husband and wife, both aged 72, were under the influence of alcohol and did not notice that the gas cylinder was open and gas was coming out. One of them struck a match, causing the explosion. The man suffered first- and second-degree burns on the face, hands and legs, while the woman received no injuries.
A number of 52 explosions caused by natural gas leaks have happened in Moldova since 1997.
