A man from Chisinau, who strangled his former wife in October 2012, was sentenced to 15 years in jail. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the offender was convicted of murder and domestic violence, IPN reports.

The bone of contention between the man and his former wife was the apartment that wasn’t divided between them after divorce. The quarrels started in summer, but the man beat his former wife earlier too. Several months later, when being in the same apartment, the man began to squabble with his former wife. He took a strap and strangled her.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
