Man threatens to explode grenade in front of Prosecutor General's Office

A man threatened to blow up a grenade in front of the Prosecutor General's Office on Thursday, October 15. It happened just minutes before the opening of a news conference on yesterday's explosion in downtown Chisinau at the Prosecutor General's Office, Info-Prim reports. Dozens of policemen came to the scene. The man, native of Rezina, had a bag with an unidentified object inside and threatened to explode a grenade. He complained that his son was sentenced to imprisonment for murder groundlessly. After several minutes of talks, the man was taken to a police van. At the news conference, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko said the man chose a grenade with a small radius of action so as not to cause casualties. He also said that investigations will be carried out and, if necessary, his son's case will be reexamined. According to Valeriu Zubko, after appointed to the post he has received a number of complaints and open letters, most of which concerning violations committed by the former government.
