The man who last summer, after an argument, shot a 39-year-old man in the head in Calarasi town was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The 61-year-old defendant is to serve his sentence in a closed penitentiary, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the case took place at the end of June 2023 in Calarasi. The defendant was drunk. On a street near his home, in the presence of several people, he started an argument with two men. Being verbally offended, he threatened to shoot them.

The man went home, took the weapon that he legally owned from the safe, loaded it with 8 rounds and returned to the place where the two men and their relatives were. The defendant approached group of people at a distance of about 4 meters and, without warning, shot one of the men in the head. The victim died on the spot.

For this deed, the prosecutor asked for 20 years in a closed prison. The court found the man guilty and gave him this jail term. The prosecutors in Calarasi consider the sentence legal and there are no grounds for appeal.
