The festival “Maria Biesu Invites” will be named the International Opera Festival “Maria Biesu”. Under a Government Decision, by tradition the event will be held in September, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said that this year’s festival that celebrates two decades of the launch will contain new elements, including a song contest. The National Opera Prima Donna passed away on May 16 at the age of 76. When she was 32, Maria Biesu won the title of the Best Cio-Cio-San at the International Contest Miura Tomaki in Japan. After this great success, she had a fruitful concert activity.
