Mayor imposes severe measures on minibus route administrators
The accident involving a minibus that happened in Chisinau this morning shows the attitude of the persons responsible for the transportation of passengers, who include the route administrators, owners and drivers of minibuses. Running after income, they forget about the most important thing – the need to ensure the passengers’ safety, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said, stressing such a situation cannot be tolerated, while the measures that will be taken will be severe, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Dorin Chirtoaca demanded that the row of seats that was earlier removed be reinstalled, the passengers be transported only on seats and that the drivers stop only at stations and be employed legally. He also asked banning smoking while driving and respecting the speed limit, it is said in a communiqué issued by the Chisinau City Hall.
The mayor general stressed they will return to the discussions on the rise in fares only after all the measures requested by the local authorities are implemented.
