The roofs of about 60 houses in Boșcana village of Criuleni district were partially destroyed as a result of the high winds of October 8. About 30 homes remained without gas after a tree fell down and damaged a gas pipe.
Contacted by IPN for details, mayor of Boșcana Svetlana Racu said she hasn’t seen such strong winds earlier. There was a windstorm that affected a part of the village and took away what it had on its way, including personal belongings from yards and gardens. The gusts downed trees and branches. A gas pipeline was damaged by a downed tree and the supply of gas in a part of the village was stopped. Work is now done to restore the gas supply.
The wind also damaged the mayor’s office and the local church.
The local administration is to receive building materials from the central authorities and these will be distributed to locals. The done damage is being assessed.
Igor Macovei, mayor of Cajba village of Glodeni district, has told IPN that about ten homes in the village remained without roofs. They are examining the situation to see what damage was caused and how the affected villagers can be helped.
