Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca on March 1 distributed martsishors (amulets worn at chest to celebrate the coming of spring) to passersby in the center of Chisinau. He said that this way he wanted to restore the nice spring tradition of wearing martsishors, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We want to bring the spirit of spring, joy and warmth to the residents of Chisinau,” said the mayor. The passersby took the amulets from the mayor with smiles on their faces and congratulated him. Others gave martsishors to the mayor themselves. Dorin Chirtoaca walked along Stefan cel Mare Blvd., from the Chisinau City Hall to Armeneasca St and back. The Chisinau administration bought 3,000 martsishors to the value of about 6,000 lei for this drive.
