The court passed judgment in the case concerning the smuggling of the largest quantity of hashish discovered by the police in Moldova. Two men, who were caught at the Leuseni-Albita customs post with 57 kg of hashish, were sentenced to 10 years in jail each, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office has said that last summer, the offenders bought from Spain a car where they hid the drugs of Moroccan origin. They were going to Moldova, but intended to sell the hashish in Russia.
The drugs were found during a check of the car at the customs post. They were hidden in the reservoir.
The sentence can be appealed to a higher court. The young men aged 25 and 29 are from Ialoveni district.
