The Cabinet decided the way in which the 100 million lei in financial aid allocated to farmers affected by drought will be distributed. Under the regulations, the maximum amount of aid cannot exceed 500,000 lei per applicant. The maximum cumulative financial aid granted to an applicant in 2024 is 1,000,000 lei, including from the aid received for the partial compensation of damage caused by natural disasters in 2023, IPN reports.

Agricultural land that is located in the service area of a functional centralized irrigation system is not eligible for aid. Also, farmers who have benefited from subsidized insurance are not eligible.

The aid is intended for farmers who cultivate wheat or corn. These must have documents ascertaining the damage caused to agricultural crops as a result of exceptional natural situations in 2024 for an area of at least 50% (±5%) of the owned land, regardless of the type of crop or the nature of the calamity (frost, heavy rains, hail, etc.).

The applicants must also have a bank account and a Statistical Report No. 4-AGR providing data about the cultivated areas. To obtain the aid, the applicant will submit a single application to the local subdivision of the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture.
