Military officer and former cop charged with procuring
The police arrested a military officer and a former policemen at the Chisinau Airport as they were trying to get two women on a plane to Russia where they were supposed to practice prostitution.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the two were recruiting young women from rural areas, in particular from vulnerable families, and were organizing their transportation to Russia. One of the suspects was escorting them to the destination.
Investigation revealed that one more woman was supposed to fly to Russia the next day. According to the police, the women knew that they were going to practice prostitution and revealed that they were convinced into doing this.
Further investigation is underway to establish whether other people were involved as well. Charged with procuring, the two suspects face up to 7 years' imprisonment.
