Modern dentist’s office for Moldovan prisoners
A modern dentist’s office was set up at the hospital of penitentiary No 16 in Pruncul. Detainees from all the prisons of the country will be able to treat their teeth there, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Justice.
“A human attitude towards the detained persons is an important precondition for re-socializing and reintegrating these persons into the society,” Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase said at the opening of the dentist’s office.
The office was repaired and modern equipment was purchased with the money provided by the Austrian association “Concordia – Social Projects”. On the occasion of the event, a group of representatives of the association visited today penitentiary No. 16 and discussed with the medical personnel. They could assess the assistance necessities of this institution.
The penitentiary is the only specialized medical institution in the penitentiary system where the prisoners can do medical tests and receive treatment. The detainees suffering from tuberculosis are treated there, being isolated from the healthy prisoners.
More than 340 detainees suffering from cardiovascular diseases, mental disorders and other illnesses are now treated at the hospital of penitentiary No.16.
