Moldova's national squad was beaten by Latvia 3-2 in the last 2010 World Championship qualifying match, Info-Prim Neo reports. Consequently, Moldova finished the last in the group with no victory. The game was played on Skonto Stadium in Latvia on October 14 and was watched by about 4,000 spectators. The match began well for the Moldovan players. Gheorghe Ovseanicov opened the score, but the sending-off of captain Serghei Lashchenkov thwarted all their plans. The Latvians profited from this and scored three goals - Andrejs Rubins two times and Kristaps Grebis once. Towards the end of the game, Veaceslav Sofroni brought one more point to Moldova.
