Moldova dropped 34 positions in FIFA rankings
The national football team of Moldova lost 34 places in the world rankings published on Wednesday, September 21, by the International Football Federation (FIFA), Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Tricolors were ranked 122nd with 255 points. In September, the team coached by Gabi Balint suffered defeats in both qualifying fixtures for EURO 2012: 1-4 against Finland and 0-2 at the hands of Hungary.
Moldova’s lowest position ever was in 1994, when the team was ranked 149th.
Among Moldova’s group rivals, the Netherlands dropped to second place and Sweden lost 7 positions, being ranked 25th. Hungary climbed to 27th place, Finland to 72nd and San Marino remain the bottom side.
World and European champions Spain top the list, followed by the Netherlands and Germany.
On October 7, Moldova will travel to Holland.
