Moldova expecting 50,000 vaccines from Romania
The first batch of 50,000 vaccines against pandemic flu from Romania that was to get to Moldova on November 26 will come with delay. When in Moldova, the vaccines will be clinically tested during two weeks, Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu said at the meeting of the national extraordinary anti-epidemic commission, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Romania decided to offer 400,000 vaccines against pandemic influenza A(H1N1) to Moldova free of charge. The first batch was to arrive on November 26 as it was agreed during Prime Minister Vlad Filat's visit to Bucharest.
Vladimir Hotineanu said 100,000 doses of the antiviral drug Tamiflu that came to Moldova from Switzerland have been already distributed. Of these, 10,000 doses were given to Transnistria.
At the same meeting, the national extraordinary anti-epidemic commission presented an inter-sector framework plan for gradually combating pandemic flu. It includes measures aimed at preventing and fighting the disease during the next seasons – April and October 2010.
The plan covers 17 state institutions. According to the Minister of Health, the measures defined in the plan will be implemented at the central and local levels.
