Moldova gets ready to receive wounded Ukrainians

The Republic of Moldova prepares to receive injured Ukrainian citizens. If this is decided, those hurt will be taken to the Military Hospital in Chisinau. Other public hospitals in Chisinau are also being prepared for such a scenario, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health Svetlana Nicolăescu told a news conference.

Three foreign citizens hurt with firearms in Ukraine asked for medical assistance in Moldova the last few days. One of them is a citizen of Azerbaijan. He was admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute in Chisinau. Another two hurt persons, journalists from Denmark, received medical care, but didn’t require hospitalization.

In Moldova, there are 40 ad-hoc placement centers housing over 8,000 refugees. These centers have medical teams and mobile COVID-19 vaccination teams. The persons who suffer from chronic diseases continue to receive treatment. Sets of medicines for the treatment of 10,000 refugees with chronic diseases during the next three months will be delivered the next few days, stated Svetlana Nicolăescu.

A number of 48 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed among the refugees. Fifteen persons were hospitalized. Two pregnant women from Ukraine gave birth in Moldova recently. One of them was admitted to a public maternity hospital, the other one to a private hospital.

The National Blood Transfusion Center in Chisinau is on the alert. Those who want to donate blood, including for refugees, are asked to do this, said the official.
