Moldova initiates talks with Ukraine to facilitate international transport

The Cabinet decided to initiate talks on the signing of a protocol agreed by exchange of notes between the Government of Moldova and the Government of Ukraine to supplement the Visa-Free Agreement signed by the sides on May 18, 2001, IPN reports.

The protocol was drafted following difficulties identified in the international passenger and goods transport. It provides for the non-application of Article 1 of the Agreement to vehicle drivers, navigating personnel and trains personnel of the two states that are on duty when crossing the state border.

The goal is to facilitate the mutual travel for categories of persons who often cross the border owing to their job and thus stay longer than 90 days on the territory of one of the two states during a period of 180 days.
