The Government’s secretary general Victor Bodiu assured a delegation of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce that Moldova is willing to intensify the cooperation relations with China. The Chinese delegation came to assess the impact of the technical assistance provided by the People’s Republic of China to the Government of Moldova and to jointly identify the priorities that will lay at the basis of cooperation over the next five years, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, in the meeting Victor Bodiu, in the name of the Cabinet, appreciated the high level of communication and understanding in the Moldovan-Chinese relations. He reiterated that the executive’s priorities include the improvement of the living standards and the development of the country’s infrastructure. As regards the relations with the People’s Republic of China, emphasis will be laid in continuation on the intensification of the economic and commercial cooperation.
For their part, the members of the Chinese delegation thanked the Government of Moldova for the openness and constant interest in the cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. In this connection, the officials from Beijing approved of the fact that the technical assistance provided by China is used mainly to improve the living conditions of the people of Moldova.
Among the bilateral projects implemented over the last few years were mentioned those from the health sector (the Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine), the rule of law (the police reform, the system for monitoring the traffic in Chisinau), the education system (equipment of dorms with over 1,200 computers and 220 printers).
Starting with 2002, the People’s Republic of China has offered Moldova about 230 million Yuan (almost 530 million lei) in non-reimbursable financial assistance, 150 million Yuan of which since 2009.
