Moldova launches Sustainable Energy Investment Hub

A hub was launched in Moldova to unify stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy to facilitate cooperation and promote sustainable solutions. The hub will centralize legislative information, provide clear guidelines for project implementation, and support professional development through training programs. An online platform, which will centralize all relevant information and facilitate interactions between beneficiaries, investors and developers, will be an essential component of the hub's activity, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Energy.

Hub members will have access to up-to-date information on the renewable energy and energy efficiency market, including relevant legislation, tariffs, prices and examples of successful projects.

Secretary of state of the Ministry of Energy Carolina Novac welcomed the initiative. "I’m very happy about the launch of the Sustainable Energy Investment Hub, which highlights the radical transformation of the energy sector, namely by doubling the capacities of renewable energy sources, but also by starting several energy efficiency projects for public institutions and in the residential sector," stated Carolina Novac.

"The launch of the hub is an important step in strengthening the voice of the private sector, which plays a crucial role in the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency. It is essential to combine forces to discuss issues, create connections and explore opportunities for cooperation," said energy expert Marina Vardanyan, representative of USAID Moldova.

The Sustainable Energy Investment Hub initiative was implemented with the support of the USAID- Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA). MESA director Armen Arzumanyan noted that the potential of the energy efficiency and renewable energy sector in Moldova exceeds $2 billion and that progress in this area depends on close cooperation between the public and private sectors.

MESA is a four-year project (2022-2026) through which USAID will invest at least $59 million in strengthening and diversifying the country's energy sector.
