The public association “Moldova Mea” calls on Parliament to adopt a law that would ban the propagation of homosexuality. The organization plans to collect signatures all over the country to oblige the MPs to take such a decision, the association’s head Fiodor Ghelici announced in a news conference at IPN.

Fiodor Ghelici told the journalists that he discussed the necessity of a law that would ban the propagation of homosexuality in a meeting with Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir. “We went to the Metropolitan Church with examples of such acts in Russia and Ukraine. It should be clear that we are not for the abrogation of the Law on the Equality of Chances, but want the homosexuals not to be allowed to demonstrate publicly and not to be shown on TV. Their intimate life should be at their homes only,” said the association’s head.

As to the decision of the Church Synod to refuse to give communion to the politicians, Fiodor Ghelici said he is against it because the Church is an institution where every Christian has the right to pray for having their sins forgiven.

According to Fiodor Ghelici, after the visit that Patriarch Kirill will pay to Moldova in autumn, there will be staged the Cross Road within which signatures will be collected for putting forward a bill for banning the propagation of homosexuality.

In the same news conference, former minister of security Anatol Plugaru said he supports the decision of the Church Synod. “Ultimately, the Synod stated its opinion and took a decision showing the Church’s position on the situation in the country,” said Plugaru. He added that this decision should be regarded rather as a warning to the politicians that they should act in the people’s interests.

The participants in the conference underlined that they do not call on the people to attack the homosexuals, but consider the homosexuality a deviation from the normality and a disease that should not be presented and the children should be protected from it. According to the supporters of “Moldova Mea”, homosexuality is as serious as zoophilia, necrophilia and pedophilia.
