Moldova offers condolences to Ukraine over Lvov blast

Prime Minister Pavel Filip transmitted a message of condolence to his Ukraine counterpart Volodymyr Groysman in connection with the coal mine explosion in Lvov region, which resulted in heavy casualties, IPN reports.

“In the name of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, I express our compassion and solidarity with the Ukrainian people in these difficult moments. I ask you to give our sincere condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and wishes of speedy recovery to those who were hurt,” says Pavel Filip’s message.

According to foreign press reports, 11 people were killed in a blast caused by a gas leakage at a coal mine on March 2. Fourteen persons were hospitalized, two of whom in a serious state. There were 172 people inside the mine when the explosion happened.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko declared March 3 a national mourning day.
