The Republic of Moldova and Romania have signed a common action plan for easing crossborder traffic at frontier posts between the two countries. The document was signed on the sidelines of the trilateral meeting of the managers of the customs and border authorities of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine that was held at the Siret-Porubne Romanian-Ukrainian border crossing point, IPN reports.
In accordance with the plan, a number of measures will be taken to accelerate the process of crossing the state border. The number of employees at Romanian customs posts situated on the border with Moldova will be increased. The technical interaction norms will be reviewed and approaches will be made to the responsible institutions to synchronize the actions needed to facilitate the movement of traffic through border crossing points.
Measures will also be taken to implement the exchange of electronic data about empty trucks (eventually with freight) that cross the Moldovan-Romanian border, based on the experience accumulated in the framework of a pilot project between the customs authorities of Moldova and Romania.
