Moldova seriously menaced by A (H1N1) flu
Over 4,800 people were discovered to be infected by different viruses in Moldova this year, but there has been no case of A (H1N1) flue recorded, Mihai Moldovanu, the head of the Health Division, told the Chisinau city hall's staff meeting on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
He says enhanced prophylactic measures have been taken, since there are more and more cases reported in Romania, Russia and now Ukraine. “The population is warned about the risks. The medical centers are obliged to stay cautious and to adjust their actions according to the situation,” Moldovanu said.
The Health Division warns the people to avoid crowded places and contacts with people suspected of being sick. It recommends to wash one's hands as often as possible and to observe the healthy life style.
“In case one notices flu symptoms, one shall call a doctor urgently. Drink much water, cover your nose and mouth, inform your family,” the functionary informs.
There is no vaccine against the A (H1N1) flu. According to French media, scores of drug manufacturers are trying to develop the antidote. The results are expected in August.
Other sources report that Singapore and the USA have recently discovered a new method to test the variation and resilience to drugs of any A-type flu virus. It takes an hour.
Over 14,000 cases of A (H1N1) flu are recorded in 52 countries and regions, as 105 have died.
