A team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was dispatch to participate in service missions within the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place in Paris, France. This is the first time that the Republic of Moldova is represented among the security and public order forces at the Olympic Games, IPN reports.

These are 13 policemen and carabineers who will be recognized among the security forces participating in the Olympic Games by the country’s emblem, which they will wear on their left hand. Representing the Republic of Moldova along with 50 other countries, our team will join the French counterparts to carry out patrol, guard and protection missions.

Present at the send-off event, President Maia Sandu expressed her confidence that the police officers and carabiners will share their experience within this mission and will learn from the experience of other states. “This mission means a great success for all of us because the invitation from France comes to recognize the professionalism, the capacity of our institutions to participate in ensuring public order and security on the continent, not just at home,” stated the official.

“The start of our participation in international missions in Europe shows that Moldova and the Ministry of Internal Affairs set off on the European path and the integration into the European Union is one step closer, and for us this means a better, safe life,” said Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Moldova thanked the Moldovan authorities for accepting France’s request to provide operational support to the French internal security forces, alongside other partners, stressing that security and safety at the Olympic Games is an absolute priority for the French authorities.
