Moldova to be reviewd for human rights observance

Processes surrounding Moldova’s first Universal Periodic Review (UPR) were launched today in Chisinau at a training workshop involving Government, civil society, the Moldovan Centre for Human Rights, and United Nations agencies - UNDP Moldova said in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The main goals of the UPR are to address inequalities and all forms of discrimination, to advance the human rights situation for all, to promote the fulfillment of human rights obligations and commitments, to review positive developments and challenges faced by countries, and to share best practices between the countries and stakeholders. All countries of the United Nations system are reviewed under the UPR on a four-year cycle. The UPR began in 2008. Moldova will be reviewed for the first time during the 12th UPR cycle in 2011.
