Moldova to borrow US$ 1.7m for modernizing governmental services

Parliament ratified an advance agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, of the World Bank Group, based on which Moldova will get a loan of US$ 1.7 million for thinking up and implementing the project “Modernization of Governmental Services”, IPN reports.

The agreement has an implementation period of 12 months. The money provided in the form of a loan, at an interest rate of 2%, will be used to achieve the modernization objectives stipulated in the Government’s program for 2016-2018, the strategy for reforming the public administration for 2016-2020 and the plan of action for modernizing the public services for 2017-2021.

The Government plans a broad exercise to qualitatively and quantitatively transform the administrative public services for which the central public authorities are in charge. The outdated public services will be eliminated and a number of services will be merged into one. The access to public services at the local level will be extended through digital channels. The number of documents required for providing public services will be reduced.
