The European Commission and the national civil aviation authorities of the states that are parties to the European Common Aviation Area, including Moldova, adopted the Helsinki Declarations whose goal is to ensure safe civil drone operations, IPN has learned from the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova.
The sides committed themselves to cooperate in establishing the national regulations concerning the safe use of civil drones, which would be applied immediately after the European Commission adopts the common Community framework in the field.
The European Parliament is to officially endorse the technical norms concerning the utilization of drones in the first two months of 2018 so that the European Commission could adopt concrete rules in the course of next year.
The EU standards will be based on the principle that the remotely piloted aircraft systems should ensure a safety level equal to that of manned aviation operations and a stricter control as regards data and private life protection.
In the process of introducing the new regulatory framework at the national level, the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova will be assisted by a group of experts of the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS).
