The Government approved the negotiation and signing of a memorandum of partnership between the International Organization of Francophonie and the ministries of education of six states, including Moldova. The cooperation will cover linguistic policies, determination of the place and role of the French language in the education system, consolidation of the aptitudes of the French language teachers and use of innovative instruments for teaching French, IPN reports.
The International Organization of Francophonie assumes responsibility for ensuring the functioning of the Regional Francophone Center for Central and Eastern Europe by annually budgeting money for it. The professional training courses will be financed by the IOF in proportion of 75%. The other part of the costs will be covered by the host country.
To improve cooperation based on the memorandum, a regional committee will be set up to meet once a year. This will include by one representative of each state. Its presidency will be held in rotation and will last for a year.
The memorandum will take effect after it is signed and will be valid until December 31, 2020.
Moldova joined the IOF in 1996.
