Moldovan illegal migrants arrested in Transcarpathia

Ukrainian border guards arrested 11 illegal migrants from Moldova in the Transcarpathian region. Ten women aged between 19 and 50 and a 21-year-old man intended to illegally cross the border with Hungary, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting Ukraine’s national news agency Ucrinform. The migrants confessed they headed for Italy as they wanted to find employment there. Each of them was to pay 3,000 to 4,000 euros to persons who promised to help them reach the destination. According to the Border Guard Service of Ukraine, most probably the Moldovans became victims of swindlers as these persons did not come to the agreed place. The Ukrainian border guards during the first half of this year detained 1,762 illegal migrants. One third of them were natives of Moldova, Ucrinform says on its website. In a communiqué, the Border Guard Service of Moldova says that three persons that planned to reach the EU illegally were arrested last night on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. Without having identification papers, the three persons decided to illegally cross the state border near a settlement in northern Moldova, where they were caught by a border guard patrol. All the three are Moldovans aged 21 and 23. They had personal effects and currencies of different states on them.
