Top Moldovan officials have offered their condolences in connection with the crashing of a helicopter near a kindergarten in Kyiv’s suburban town of Brovary, which killed the Ukrainian minister of the interior and other MoI officials, as well as a number of civilians, including children.
“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and my staff, I’m offering my sincerest condolences to the Ukrainian Government and people. My thoughts are with the grieving families. I wish those injured a speedy recovery”, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said in her message.
In her message, President Maia Sandu wrote: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost their loved ones and to the team of the Ministry of the Interior of Ukraine”.
The Moldovan Ministry of the Interior also sent a message of condolences. “Condolences to the families of the deceased - the Minister of the Interior of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky, Deputy Minister Evgeniy Yenin, State Secretary Yuri Lubkovitsi, the aircraft crew, as well as to the families of the children and educators who died in the tragic accident caused by the helicopter crash. The MoI encourages the Ukrainian interior system to continue the struggle of resistance and defense of the homeland, in honor of those who have disappeared, who made their country resist the war, even through the ultimate sacrifice”, states the institution.
The helicopter crash killed at least 14 people. A further 25 people, including 11 children, were injured following the incident in the city of Brovary Wednesday. A number of versions are being considered by the Ukrainian security services conducting the investigation into the crash, including pilot error, technical malfunction, and sabotage.
