Moldovan rescuers to take part in field exercise in Armenia

A team of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service will be participating in the NATO disaster response exercise “ARMENIA 2010” during September 11-17. This morning, the team has left for Armenia. Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that the exercise aims to improve cooperation between nations during operations to manage the consequences of emergencies, including chemical, biological and radiological incidents. The field exercise will be based on the fictitious scenario of a serious civil emergency situation in the Kotayq Region near the city of Arzni. It will cover 11 main locations. Up to 1,000 participants from NATO and Partner countries as well as representatives and observers from other international organizations and nations are expected to take part in the event, which is held annually to practice disaster response mechanisms and enhance cooperation in emergency situations. A similar drill will take place in Moldova next year. The experience accumulated by the Moldovan team of rescuers in Armenia will be put into practice.
