Moldovan sappers disarm WWII ammunitions

Moldovan sappers have disarmed 12 explosives in different parts of the country the last two weeks, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the PR service of the Defense Ministry. According to captain Sergiu Chilivnic, most of the ammunitions dates back to WWII and were unveiled by locals in farming or construction works. Two 82-mm mortar mines were discovered in Copanca village of Causeni district and an artillery missile of 57 mm in caliber. Since the explosives stood more than 60 years in the earth and it was dangerous to carry them, the sappers exploded them on the spot. A German anti-tank grenade was found on Bucuresti street in Chisinau, during construction works. The object was disarmed at a military training base. The Moldovan sappers have also discovered artillery missiles in villages from Criuleni, Stefan Voda and Vulcanesti district. 762 explosives have been neutralized in 2009.
