In October of this year, citizens of the Republic of Moldova consumed 45.6 million cubic meters of gas, marking a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Additionally, compared to September 2024, consumption rose by 27.8 million cubic meters, or approximately 156%, IPN reports.
According to Moldovagaz, as of October 31, 2024, residential consumers had paid 99% of billed amounts for 2024, similar to the same period last year. For legal entities, the payment rate was approximately 99%, an increase of 2.3 percentage points over the previous year.
Enterprises in the energy and heating sectors achieved a 100% payment rate, up by 7.4 percentage points compared to the same time last year. Moldovagaz disconnected over 260 gas-consuming units from the natural gas distribution network due to outstanding debts exceeding one million lei.
By the end of the previous month, 99.3% of gas consumers had paid their bills, totaling 6.719 billion lei, representing roughly 34% less than the same period last year. Moldovagaz attributes this decrease to significant tariff reductions during the period.
