Moldovans qualify for Children's Mamaia final

For the second time in the last five years, Moldova has qualified for the final of the largest Romanian pop music festival for children Children's Mamaia. Stefanel Roscovan and Diana Brescan will represent Moldova in the final that will take place on July 14-17, Info-Prim Neo reports. More than 3,000 children aged between 5 and 17 struggled for the 71 places in the final. The second preselection stage closed in Bucharest on May 9. Diana Brescan, 14, will compete in the 14-17 age bracket. “I hope the public and the jury did not notice my jitters as I tried to do my best,” Diana said after performing. “Diana Brescan has an exceptional voice. She won several contests where I was part of the jury and I'm sure that Moldova is proud of such talents,” said composer Viorel Gavrila. Stefanel Roscovan is taking part in the festival for the second time. In 2006, two Moldovan singers qualified for the final for the first time. Then, Mihaela Chisnencu won the Trophy, while Stefanel Roscovan a special prize. This time, Stefan Roscovan will compete in the Small Groups division and will sing together with Madalina Lefter from Iasi – the winner of the Mamaia Trophy in 2007. The duo Solaris was prepared for this contest by composer Nicolae Caragia. Composer Claudiu Bulete said Stefanel Roscovan has a great future ahead of him. “He impresses the audience every time. I'm sure he will have a nice career in music. He is a real artist already,” he said. In summer, Diana Brescan and Stefanel Roscovan will participate in the contest Children's Little Deer. Diana has qualified for the final, while the duo Stefanel and Madalina will compete in the second preselection stage in Bucharest on May 27. The final will take place in August.
