The volume of voice traffic in mobile phone networks in 2013 rose by 11% on 2012, to over 5.6 billion minutes. The average monthly traffic per user was 200 minutes, shows a report by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, IPN reports.

The number of users of these services exceeded 4.4 million. 100 residents of Chisinau used an average of over 124 SIM cards. 93.7% of the mobile phone users were private individuals, while the rest were legal entities.

SA Orange Moldova last year reported the highest number of new users connected to its network – about 264,800 (+11.7%). The number of clients of SA Moldcell rose by 44,200 (+2.9%), while of SA Moldtelecom, which provides mobile phone services under the brand name “Unite”, increased by 41,600 (+14.8%).

The total revenues of the mobile phone carriers in the period grew by 0.2% on 2012, to about 3.4 billion lei. This rise didn’t yet affect the positions on the market. According to the data from December 31, 2013, by turnover SA Orange Moldova had a market share of about 70.7%, SA Moldcell – of 25.5%, while SA Moldtelecom - of 3.8%.
