Moldovans who work legally in Poland will receive pensions

The Moldovans who work legally in Poland will be able to benefit from a set of social insurance services based on an agreement signed by the two countries and the administrative plan for implementing it, IPN reports.

Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga told a news conference that the signed agreement aims to protect the social rights of the insured Moldovans who work or live permanently in Poland. The document applies to persons who pay or paid social insurance contributions before the coming into force of the agreement.

“Based on the Moldovan-Polish agreement on social insurance, the persons will receive old age pension, pension of invalidity caused by disease, pensions and allowances of invalidity caused by accidents at work or professional diseases, and the successor’s pension,” said the minister.

She underlined that the basic principle is the proportionality one. “The pension will be set based on the period during which the person paid social insurance in both of the states and will be available in the country where the person lives,” said Valentina Buliga.

The agreement may come into force in the first half of next year, when Polish Minister of Labor is expected to come to Chisinau.

The retirement age in Moldova for men is 62, while for women is 57. The complete pension to men is paid after a length of service of 31 years, but will increase annually by six months up to 35, while to women is paid for a length of service of 30 years. A partial pension is allocated for a length of service of minimum 15 years.

Moldova has signed eight similar agreements already, with Romania, Bulgaria Portugal, Estonia, Czech Republic, Luxemburg, Austria, and Belgium.
