Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca assured that Moldovans would move freely in the EU member countries by the end of 2012. If this doesn't happen, Leanca says he will quit, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I've returned from a visit to Bruxelles. Our EU partners have commended our actions towards European integration. They observed that Moldova is a trustworthy member of the Eastern Partnership. Our dialogue with the EU is open and sincere. Although we do have some shortcomings, our partners appreciate that we are trying to correct them”, declared the Foreign Minister at a press conference on Wednesday.
He said that the problems faced by some EU countries wouldn't affect the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldova. “I'm sure the EU will overcome its problems. Moldova was evaluated by three missions in three weeks. At the end of the year, the European Commission will present a report to the European Parliament and I'm confident it will propose to pass to the second and final stage of the visa regime liberalization, which will last until the end of 2012, as I mentioned. It's important to advance and the success of this project depends 90% on ourselves”, stressed Iurie Leanca.
The Minister added that the EU representatives were interested in the political processes in Moldova. Though they stated their hope that the President would be elected by the end of the year, they do understand that what's happening is still a democratic process.
The second Moldovan report on the implementation of the Plan of actions regarding the visa regime liberalization with EU was presented in Bruxelles earlier this week by Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
